Backstory
For engineers, communicating technical information to often non-technical stakeholders is frustrating and time consuming. Giterate is an indy software tool that uses an LLM to turn GitHub repositories into easily digestible changelogs that can be shared in just a couple of clicks.
My Role
-
Crafted a brand tagline that captures the essence of Giterate
-
Designed a landing page that communicated Giterate's value prop to both technical and non-technical audiences
-
Architected the product output to be easily interpretable and shareable
Approach
I am not an engineer. Recognizing the highly technical nature of this product, I knew I would need to make a concerted effort to understand its feature set and value proposition. I threaded the needle between technical and non-technical language with clever copywriting and an emphasis on the before-and-after journey — from belabored, manual changelog writing to simple, elegant automated outputs.
Results
Giterate was adopted into the software stack of:
-
Series A blockchain infrastructure startup backed by Spark Ventures
-
Small group of indy hackers
Many iterations led me to the tagline Build effortless changelogs with just a repo. This conveyed the ease-of-use of the Giterate product as well as the simple workflow from repo to changelog. It is straightforward enough for a non-technical stakeholder to comprehend it, but robust enough to communicate Giterate's value to an engineer.
The changelog itself — complex code translated into plain english with the help of a GPT.
I recognized that shareability was paramount to the success of this product, so I spec'd a Slack integration that allowed for one-click updates to the whole team.
